A Note to IT
about ULTRA |
|
u OVERVIEW The App: Ultra is a
32-bit /64 bit Windows app designed for client/server environments but able
to run as a stand-alone single PC app. The executable app is named “invULTRA2013.exe”
and it resides in the SERVER FOLDER along with the databases. Databases: Written Visual
Basic, the software drives a multiuser Access databases for CURRENT RECORDS as well as secondary databases for ARCHIVE
RECORDS and for BACKUP. These database file are named, respectively, invplus.mdb, invplus_Archive.mdb, and
invplus_Backup.mdb. The
invplus_Backup db is used mainly
by stand-alone PC users who must manually back up their db. The other two
dbs, invplus.mdb and invplus_ARCHIVE.mdb should be backed up daily along with
the SERVER FOLDER. v TECHNICAL OS: ULTRA runs under
Win xP, Win7-10 and server OSs compatible with them. Network and Security: ULTRA runs under
a private network and is NOT accessible via the public internet. It supports
online requisitioning via the LAN and we recommend T1 lines if remote branches
will requisition supplies. It supports up to 999 users IDs and each such user
may be given restrictive rights to access ULTRA ranging from READ ONLY to
FULL READ/ WRITE access. The SYSTEM ADMINSTRATOR is by default user ID = 1
and this user is allowed to add new users to ULTRA and assign them passwords
and access right. Each user may access a utility from with ULTRA to
periodically change his/her password, with the exception of REQUISITION ONLY
users assigned “Q” access rights. Permissions: We recommend full admistrative rights be given to
users for the SERVER FOLDER ONLY. If less than full administrative rights are
given, we recommend loosening the UAC (User Access Control) by the network
administrator. Installation: Due to its client/server nature, a FULL SETUP of the software needs to be performed for each workstation accessing the app. This is because the invULTRA2013.exe file calls on *.dlls and *.ocxs residing on the client. If the FULL SETUP is to be performed remotely, we recommend that the remote installer do so by first signing on under the workstation’s user’s network access ID. For more on installation, please consult Setup-Network w LEGAL The
initial licensing fee for ULTRA software is $3,000 and an annual licensing
and maintenance fee (ALM) is payable annually beginning in the second year.
The licensing entity is entitled to run ULTRA within the entity’s scope but
separate legal entities must pay separate initial license and annual
licensing fees. Failure to pay annual ALM fees will result in termination of
the entity’s licensing rights to the ULTRA software. There
